Ali Baba Updates


  • 9/10--We are glad to announce that so far we have received
    petitions of more than 1,500 signatures from citizens of Asheville
    (not only our customers) who have come to the Grove Arcade to
    support Ali Baba restaurant operation and the integrity of its
    owners, while expressing their displeasure with the Grove Arcade
    management’s decision to terminate our lease.  Please sign the
    petition below to support Ali Baba to remain open.

  • 8/27/07--Five inspectors from the City of Asheville Building Safety
    Department, including a Deputy Fire Marshal and a Code
    Enforcement Officer, thoroughly inspected Ali Baba's equipment,
    blueprint, menu and food preparation, finding NO VIOLATIONS
    whatsoever.   The Building Safety Department also confirmed that
    the food preparation we do and equipment we use does not require
    any type of ventilation and is in complete conformance with the
    applicable codes.

  • 8/23/07-- The Grove Arcade management terminated Ali Baba's
    lease.   The Grove Arcade's only claim that one or two tenants
    complained about our food aroma.  Ali Baba remains open until
    eviction is disputed in court.  Ali Baba has a 10 year remaining lease
    and did not break any sections of the lease.  Ali Baba's owners have
    worked very hard for the last 2 and half years to serve our Asheville
    community by providing healthy, affordable, and delicious food.  
    Please support Ali Baba to remain open in the Grove Arcade by
    filling the petition below.
